AK74, My review.

|
Hello Contractor.

The second they were released, i bought both the ACR-C and the AK74. But i have to admit, i only bought the AK74 because it was cheap, not because it's such a great weapon or it comes with a superb Wtask.

If you have read my ACR-C posts earlier, you might have noticed that i'm not a big fan of Iron Sights. In fact, i really dislike them. Especially the AK family of assault rifles has the worst Iron Sights of the lot. They are obstructing your view and they bounce harder then your sisters boobs.

Here, let me show you what i mean.

Wow wait, look again, the AK74 isn't as bulky as the rest of his family, in fact, i think it's okay. Now as pleased as i was with the initial accuracy of the ACR-C as dissapointed i was with the AK74's accuracy. So i decided to have some fun with the ACR-C first.

During my adventures with the ACR-C, someone (sorry forgot your name, bro) mentioned to me that the AK74 was a longshotmachine. This got me curious enough to do the AK's Wtask right after i was done with the  ACR's task.

Oddly the guy who mentioned the longshots was right. The AK74 does seem to have homing bullets that fly straight into someone's skull. But for that i needed to use the ironsight (eewww). What suprised me more was the fact that i finished the wtask much, much faster then the ACR-C's task.

Let's have look at the AK74's stats.

It has decent stats, but it's nowhere near being an awesome gun. Furthermore the stats show that with a lousy skillbuild you will have a hard time hitting anything at all because of it's mediocre Accuracy and high recoil. It's obvious that even with the task complete you will not be having a lasergun like the ACR or M4A1.

Now for the tasked version of the AK74

Accuracy did become good, but recoil remains an issue when your the spraying type but it's not that bad when you fire in a controlled manner. In fact, it's really easy and fun to kill people with.

What does the Wtask give?

As you can see, you do not get a silencer, which will cause a lot of people to dislike the gun from the beginning, but instead of a silencer, you get the most BIGASS scope you will ever see. The scope alone will block a fairly large portion of your view and you will have to adjust to that.

SO..is it bad?

Well no, actually it's quite awesome; the scope is surprisingly fast and instead of bouncing it kinda pulsates on  your target without you having to re-adjust your aim. That plus the 100% accuracy makes this gun ideal to hipfire at close to medium range and to scope at medium to long range giving you 2 guns in one.

So..is it OP?

No, not by far. the AK74 comes with a good scope and decent stats, but without a silencer you will have to do without stealth, so camping wouldn't be wise in most cases. IMHO this gun is good, but it doesn't even hit the toplist of "best"guns in game and the AK105 beat's the AK74 by far because of it's recoil and more important ; silencer. Sure, the AK105 doesn't have a scope, but it's holosight is good enough to snipe with.

Is it worth buying?

Oh yeah, this might not be the best gun in the game, but it's absolutely fun to play with in med-range maps. If you're about stats/performance only you may want to skip this gun, but when fun and novelty is more important to you, this baby will offer you tons of fun.

I for one did not regret my purchase and perhaps this gun won't allways be in my standard loadout, i just might toy with it occasionally.

One word of caution tho, The AK74 is currently temporary on sale, for just 225 gp this baby can be yours, if you consider purchasing it : Do it now, it's a bargain!

If you would like to see the AK74 in action, here's a youtube vid showcasing both the AK74 and the ACR. (not my video's)

Contract Wars, Pay to Win?

|
Hello Contractor,

As you know, Contract Wars is Free to play. Meaning you can play it for free without having to spend 1 coin of your local currency. However, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Theory behind all F2P games is to try and make you change your mind about spending money. Every aspect of the game is carefully designed to make you want to spend gold! This often results in a Pay to Win game, where at some point you loose every advantage over players that do spend money.

Now, before i go any further; CW is a superb game, being continously improved by a team of highly motivated developers. Their efforts should not go unrewarded. These guys deserve compensation for their hard work, and you can have a blast in cw by spending about as much money on CW as you sometimes do on nice-price-sale-dump games from your local store.

Are the guns Pay to Win?

Before patch 1.4310 i would wholeheartedly say no, as guns like the IZH, KACPDW, M4A1 and AK105 can be made just as good as any GP weapons. However, in the last patch guns were introduced that are slightly better then some of the mentioned CR guns.  So yes, in theory you can get guns for gold that are better then the free guns.
So, the guns are pay to win? NO, improvements of these guns dont make the guns more powerfull, just a pinch of extra  "this 'n  that"  doesnt change the fact that a skilled user will handle the M4A1 far better then a noob with an ACR-C.

Most GP guns seem way better then CR weapons at first but from an honest point of view, GP weapons only offer more customisation. For example, the TKPD carbine. It's damage is unmatched by any other gun in the game but it comes at the toll of really shitty firerate and some seriously crappy mobility. So, is the TKPD better then CR weapons? I think not. If the devs were to give each and everyone a TKPD for free i doubt you'd see masses of people using it. The TKPD is a speciality weapon, as goes for most of the GP guns.

So the game isn't pay to win?

Unfortunately it is pay to win, and for a really silly reason as well.

CW offers boosters to increase Experience gain. The design of these boosters imho is flawed to the core.
I use boosters, i love boosters. I use boosters to boost my clan 6six6 hoping to attract more members. I use the premium booster package of 500gp to feed 6six6 and my donation is set to 75%. I have no hope of getting to level 70, so if i could set my donation slider to 100% i would do so.

Now, the boosters are flawed; instead trippling just my experience, the boosters tripple my score as well, often resulting in being the "best player of the match" while in fact another player outperformed me.

Personally, i hate that. I want the experience, the extra credits are nice too, but i do not want to rob someone out of their well earned victory.  When you see me leaving a match while i'm winning...it's not because i'm ragequitting or i'm having connection problems. It's because i see someone who deserves credit and i want them to get the credit instead of me.

So, by using boosters, you can tripple the chances of finishing first, making CW undeniably "pay to win".

Boosters;  i use em, i love 'em , but i beg the devs; "Fix the boosters" , dont make them influence scores and keep the results of the boosters personal!...it's just not right as score should be earned, not bought!

Now, CW being P2W, does that mean that you shouldn't play it?

Helllno. personally i think that if you know you outperformed the "rich guy" eventhough he wins is a humiliation to them (well, i atleast feel humiliation when i win over someone who deserves it more!), forget scores....take a look at K/D... there you will see the real winner!

CW, free or not free, pay or not pay to win remains "Fun to Play" and i think in time the dev's will fix boosters because they fix "wrong's" without discrimination.. Guaranteed detection (the games build-in wallhack) has been nerfed, Thermal vision has been nerfed... i have good hopes that one day they will fix score as well.

ACR-C SOCOM

|

Well, it's done, i did my ACR-C wtask and i did it all without using the iron sight. Well..i just might have used it once or twice but there really was no need to.

In my previous post i mentioned that the ACR-C could be considered a mix between P90Devgru and Noveske but when i completed the task the ACR-C really is an improved version of an allready incredible weapon. Can you guess which one by looking at the stats?

Wtasking this makes the ACR-C a lasergun. 100/1 at just a small drop in damage, and some loss of mobility.

During my w-tasking sessions, i got both a lot of admiration, as wel as curiosity about the ACR-C...but the reactions i got most were all HATE, lol, more then before people wanted to have intercourse with my mother or even myself. And every time people were telling that this gun was OP, i answered "it's not op..i can do the same with my M4A1"

Lets have a look at the m4A1 :

And guess what.. the ACR-C SOCOM IS the M4A1's Bigger Brother. Same acc, rec, dmg, range, pen but with improved firerate(neglectibe) , mobility, reloadspeed and clipsize. The collimator is the same as the p90 Devgru but red instead of green so it will be both loved and hated by many.

The ACR-C improvements over the m4a1 are usefull but not enough to make an upgrade from your m4a1 mandatory. Furthermore, this is not the best AR ingame, Personally i think it beats the noveske by a hair, but arguably the ak105 still reigns as best weapon ingame!

I loved the M4A1, but this will be my new favorite.

Contract Wars - The truth about Hacks.

|
Before anything else ; I have not, nor will i ever use a hack to play Contract Wars. If/when the day arrives that CW is flooded with hacks, i'll probably move on to another game rather then to join the Hackers. I hate hacks and i refuse to make an ass out of myself by using one. I do however have a strong interest in hacks and the technologie behind them.

Now for the good news; there aren't any hacks for CW, well no "live" ones at least. Best evidence for this is the fact that hackers like to troll and post video's of their shenenigans on Youtube. The only wallhacks shown on youtube are all the same movie.

Contract Wars is  a browser game running on the unity platform. Hacks need an executable or process to inject into. The most popular hacks are all based on the same principle and that is the reason why so many games are flooded with hacks. Purely because anyone with a keen mind can use the allready available resources to create a hack.
As for CW, there is no executable to inject into, making CW a no-go zone for the vast majority of "hackers"
This and the fact that CW is pretty small scale (no glory for hackers to be gained) makes CW a near hackfree environment.
It is rumored that the CW Developers are planning a client version of the game. I can only urge them to think twice before doing so, because that might just be the day CW is no longer hackfree.

When i started playing CW, i went to look for communities to gather intel from. I found the Kongregate forums and the Facebook group "Contract Wars Players" to be satisfying sources but i allso stumbled upon the group "Contract Wars Clans" ; a group for and about CW clans.

Sadly i dont know when or why it went wrong, but because of the total lack of moderation on that group the group has turned into a shithole filled with spam and "Hacks" .. Contract Wars Clans has become a stain on the CW community and is a total disgrace to any serious CW player.

As i said Contract Wars Clans is flooded with GP/CR/SP hacks. All claiming to work, all claiming to be undetected, some of them even have testimonies written in the comments about how well they work.

Truth is : THEY DON'T WORK.

All of the hacks that offer GP/CR/SP are either elaborate scams to get your account details, bait to lure you into surveys or recently more popular : you accept them as fb apps and the "hack" will spam the shit out of your friendslist! By using these hacks you either loose your account to some kid OR you will help them make an extra buck by filling in those surveys. Comments on how well they work are posted by fellow scammers or accomplices. If theres video evidence, showing how well the hack works you get either no evidence at all or some edited footage...some of them so bad you can even see how they "faked" the hack. Just take a good hard critical look at the video's.

Why don't they work? Values of GP/CR/SP are stored serverside, and tbh; only a fool would attempt to edit these locally. A simple serverside comparison of values will instantly show that the values have been tampered with. Whereas many other games will just change these values back, CW is extremely harsh. You change these values : BAM permaban!

Hacks claiming they edit SP/GP/CR - etc clientside all have one thing in common..."come back tomorrow"..guess what happens in the meanwhile, Einstein.. you will be hacked and the hacker has 24 hours to do with your account whatever he pleases. Your friends will love you for the amount of spam they receive thanks to your "Hack"

Again, don't fall for any of the GP/SP/CR scams no matter how legit they look...unless you're really, really stupid! If these hacks would work, probably everyone, no matter what level, would be running around with noveske's! (Dont be accusing that level 10 dude with a noveske...he either won it in the roulette for 6 hours or he spend a lot of GP unlocking all skilltrees!)

ACR - C Carbine, First look

|
I hate, and i cant stress this enough; i absolutely despise iron sights. Call me a spoiled GP buyer if you will but man, i hate iron sights. The new ACR comes without holosight so buying it was a huge gamble for me, as i feared a second G36C.

Boy was i wrong.

The ACR comes with a 40 round magazine, amazing accuracy and recoil. More then decent mobility and a good firerate. The description says ; "Good balanced specs" ... i think amazing does the gun more justice.

Now, could the iron sights be an obstacle for me? Well to be short;  Screw the iron sights. Like the AEK this thing can be hipfired accurately so i won't be using them untill i finish the piss-easy wtask of (i think) 150 longshots.

I think that if the Noveske and the P90 Devgru were to have babies, this would be it. After using this for a few matches, i think i'm in love and i found my new favorite gun!

When i finish the w-task, i will report back for my final verdict.

Skillreset YES / NO / WHY / WAT?

|
The decision to do a skillreset is allways hard, as you will loose all of your credits invested and half the GP spend. If you are level 50+ and don't have about 200-300k credits to spend on a new skillbuild then do not reset your skills because you will suffer from the inability to "buy"stuff you like!.

(warning : These 200-300k credits are not for the price to do the actual skillreset but for spending on skills AFTER the reset!)

Furthermore : the Skills that matter a lot cost GP. +15 ACC and Second Damage buff from the assault tree, if you do not have this kind of gp then postpone a skillreset untill you do or...do a skillreset but take the amount of SP needed for these GP skills into consideration and save these!

Okay, you have the Credits and the GP needed to do a skillreset, now why would you consider a skillreset?

In every game which offers different skilltrees theres usefull skills and very shiny but "useless" skills. Theres allso the impatience factor. when leveling, most players look how they can spend the amount of skillpoints they have instead of waiting and plotting a clear plan. I'm an experienced player when it comes to skilltrees and even i fucked up initially.

Now where do you need to spend your skillpoints and why?
the following is purely based on players who use either assault rifles or smg's and is based on what "i" think is common sense! (shotgun players do not need accuracy or recoil buffs)

Rule #1 : Forget about the shiny stuff ; Weapons (main weapon that is) FIRST! Say you got a gazillion mortars, when your gun sucks, you will get no mortarstrikes at all!
Rule #2 : A good skillbuild utilises more then 1 skilltree. Do not be restricted to 1 single tree.
Rule #3 : Stick to your plan. You got 3 sp..skill x cost 3 sp..let's take it. LET'S NOT! Never buy anything because that's how many SP you have.
Rule #4 : If u use Wtasked weaponry take the acc and recoil talents from the gunsmith tree into consideration when following the following steps.
Rule #5 : Your skillbuild is the most important asset you have ingame. Use a site like http://gss.at.ua/cwcalt/ to plan your skilltree and stick to that choice. This site will help you prevent mis-purchases! Plan - Learn - Predict your path! after a while you will grasp the whole skilltree idea for yourself. It's not hard.

1) Accuracy - If you cant hit what you aim at...no damage or any other buff will matter. Accuracy upgrades are in the sniper tree -> get them before anything else!
2) Recoil - If you need several hits to kill someone then Recoil becomes a very big issue. After each shot, recoil affects your accuracy in a bad way, so Recoil and accuracy go hand in hand.  Recoil talents come from the destroyer tree ->get them!
3) Damage - So, you can hit someone...now hit them harder. Damage upgrades can be gained from the assault tree.
4) Range - There's 2 range upgrades. Long Barrel 1 from the scout tree and Long Barrel 2 from the Assault tree. IMO getting long barrel 2 will be beneficial to you. Long Barrel 1 takes more SP and from a personal p.o.v i dont have it, and i don't miss it either.
5) Survivability. You now have a "good" weapon, now to save your ass. Getting the -30% damage from grenades is a must-have. If you are a pro player, this is about as much survivability you ever need, if your not pro (like me) then i would like you to consider to get some armor. (no health regen!) 60 armor should be more then sufficient!
5) Utility. Some people argue whether a grenade is important yes or no. I feel that the -30damage from nades is mandatory. A grenade is only a 3 sp investment after this. 3sp...i would seriously consider taking the grenade. Sure you might not allways use it, but it can be damn handy at times!.
Furthermore i consider Mobility a part of utility. Getting these from the scout tree can make your life somewhat more easy but do be carefull because getting too much mobility can affect the reloadspeed vs mobility talent from the destroyer tree to the point that your mobility is to high for it to work (would be a shame to have 51 mobility while using the IZH shotgun, wouldn't it?)
Also one more utility talent which is really worth getting is the attention 1 talent from the sniper tree. It's allways nice to see from what direction you get hit.
6) The rest. Stuff like firestab can be very beneficial to you, but there's ups and downs. These ups and downs are for you to consider. Also, you might want to dump excess sp into the scout tree if you use pistols regulary. These are however secondary skills...never ever ever neglect the primary ones.

Disclaimer : The above is based on my own experiences and stuff i picked up along the way do not consider it to be the EXACT way to plan your skillbuild. Use it as an eyeopener, try to see what i mean and then take a good look at your own build, does that differ from my point of view? And if so, why?. I'm not a pro player. When you do find a pro player who does not have his profile blocked take a good close look! Furthermore, feel welcome to look me up and take a close look at my skillbuild in game!

If you disagree to anyting i wrote, leave a comment, but please be very specific about it.

Hello Tarkov.

|
Hello there, fellow contractor and welcome to what i "think" is the first contract wars blog.
In this blog i will be regularly sharing my advantures, rants, tips and anything Contract Wars related that amuses or annoys me.

About me.

My ign is Onemanorgy and i have been playing contract wars for some months now.
My stats are:
Level 62
K/D 2.24 ,  56146 Kills and 25051 Deaths.
My accuracy is about 19+ % and i have played this game for about 251 hours.
I have made a total of 11 prokills, not much but considering i suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) i think 11 prokills is an exceptional achievement. (Add causes me to get distracted and that in return gets me killed).
6six6 is my clan, which is currently barely top100 since the clan doesn't have a lot of members. (Shameless add : Join 6six6, level 40+, kd 1.4+ donation 20%)

I do not consider myself to be an exceptional player, in fact i am very critical about scores so i consider myself just about average!

As far as experience goes, i have been a fps players since the demo of Wolfenstein3d, and i really started online gaming when unreal tournament was released.  So you guessed it right, i'm an old fart. 39 to be specific. The years took a toll on my reflexes, and i'm not as acurate as i was before (k/d in call of duty 1 was about 15) But where reflexes and acurracy went down, experience went up, and i'm now more of a fox, trying to outsmart my opponents.

Ever since i got introduced to Contract Wars i'm playing it like a madman, and not even the release of Battlefield 4 was able to lure me away from Contract Wars. In fact, i got a copy and have less then 4 hours played on it.

I have spend over 200€ on this game, and i have most weapons (all except TT-pistol, AS VAL mod 3, MP5spec, Shpagina and Gold Plated AKMS). A lot of gold yes, but i do think the developers did a splendid job and deserve every penny of it.

Well, enough about me, tomorrow i will be covering the upcoming patch, and to be specific : the free skillreset that comes with it.
